Based on the book John Adams by David Mccullough.
A well done production starring Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney.
Credit is due for the supporting cast as well among them:
Stephen Dillane who plays a compelling portrayal of an intriguing and wise Thomas Jefferson. Rufus Sewell - also gives a strong portrayal of a self-absorbed, self-interest Alexander Hamilton.
Tom Wilkinson was the British General in The Patriot starring Mel Gibson. In John Adams, he now plays the eccentric yet diplomatic American Benjamin Franklin.
Interesting that theres three UK actors (Wilkinson, Dillane and Sewell) portraying these historical American figures.
It covers the 1st 50 years of the history of the USA as an independent nation and the realities of the time period.
Definitely worth viewing for those interested in USA History. The Patriot is also worth watching if you like this series. Although The Patriot is fiction loosely based on historical events in the same time period as John Adams. John Adams was real and so was this story.
I also highly recommend the book 1776 by David Mccullough.
I hope there will be more productions covering the American Revolution period particularly the "Founding Fathers" who helped forge the "New World" without heredity, titles, tyrants, kings etc...a country run by the people for the people...
